Alina Mateke was born in Livingstone, Zambia - home to the Victoria Falls from a multi-cultural background. She works in a variety of art styles and mediums with a recurring appearance of the human face as her preferred motif.

 

Her work tends to feature bold patterns and shapes as well as African flora and fauna inspired by her life in Africa.

 

She has had professional training in the fine arts in the fields of ceramics, photography, art history and graphic design from institutions in the United States and Namibia.

 

She has worked under and alongside well -established artists and designers in Windhoek (Namibia), Livingstone (Zambia) and Cape Town (South Africa).

 

She draws inspiration from many art forms as well as culture, places and people she has met over the years. ​
